The Cutting Room Floor

Ever wonder if there was more to an episode than what actually aired? Get that feeling that something's missing? A number of fans who buy and trade episode scripts have made some interesting discoveries about what was on the drawing board but never made it to the final cut.

Perhaps you've already read about the syndi-cuts that aired with scenes hacked out. That's an entirely different ballgame. What follows are a couple of really lost scenes, like the alternate ending to "Mirror Image" (treated separately on its own page) which never aired at all.

Now, we finally find out how Leon Styles got his hands on a gun in the Waiting Room and why Tina tells Sam he "sounds just like Al."

"Killin' Time" -- the missing gun

WAITING ROOM - TIGHT ON FLOOR.

We see a familiar gold shoe step into frame followed by its identical twin. We PAN UP to...

REVEAL OBSERVER

He's dressed in his usual not so subtle attire. He lights his cigar and directs a smile to someone we can't see yet. He's followed into the room by a young marine MP.

OBSERVER

Sorry to keep you waiting. My name's Al!

INCLUDE _ LEON STYLES

It's the mirror image come to life. He's dressed in white and appears to be in a state of amazed shock. Everything around him is bright blue. He gives Al and the M.P. the once over, then goes back to taking in the room. He circles around them getting closer as he takes in the view.

OBSERVER

Pretty, isn't it? I wanted to throw in an Italian leather sofa and a few area rugs, but we couldn't find it in the budget. (beat) You've probably got a million questions. I think we should probably start with...

Stiles suddenly pulls the gun from the M.P.'s holster and knocks him out. He turns quickly and levels it at Al, who stops cold. He stares at the gun.

"The Leap Back" -- Sam sounds just like Al

One after another the team greets their leader. When he reaches Dr. Virbina, [and again that is the spelling in the script] he kisses her on both cheeks.

DR. BEEKS

I don't recall you leaping into any Frenchman.

SAM

I think I picked that up from an actor.

DR. BEEKS

I want to be sure you haven't picked anything else up. My office in twenty minutes for a physical.

Donna slips her arm protectively around Sam.

DONNA

Your office, tomorrow. (beat) Tonight, he's mine.

FEMALE ADMIRAL

He has to be debriefed, Doctor.

SAM

(Al la Groucho) I'm not wearing briefs, but don't let that stop you.

Everyone is a bit taken aback at Sam's line except Tina who smiles wistfully as she turns to Gushie.

TINA

Gee...he sounds just like Al.
